Alan Smith completes Newcastle move

Man Utd - Alan SmithAlan Smith has joined Newcastle United on a five year deal.

The England international moves to St James’ Park from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, which is said to be in the region of £6milliom.

Middlesbrough were also keen on Smith, but he opted to move to the bigger club in Newcastle in order to gain regular first-team football.

Liverpool face Toulouse test

Champions League - LogoLiverpool have been handed a tough draw against Toulouse in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal have been drawn against Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic for a place in the knockout stages.

Rangers will play the winners of Crvena Zvezda v Levadia Tallinn, should they beat FK Zeta, while Celtic will face a tough task against Spartak Moscow.

Claudio Cacapa in Newcastle talks

Newcastle- Sam AllardyceNewcastle United are in talks with former Lyon skipper Claudio Cacapa.

Many Toon fans have been crying out for Sam Allardyce to strengthen his defence, and he has been holding talks over the past few days with the Brazilian defender.

Cacapa left French champions Lyon at the end of last season after refusing to sign a new deal.

Spurs BT advert

A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have written in to us asking if we can show the new British Telecom advert which features Aaron Lennon’s goal against Chelsea in the 2-1 win at the Lane last season.

It looks to us as if someone high up in BT is a massive Spurs fan! Sorry Chelsea fans.

Tim Cahill to miss Everton’s season start

Everton - Tim CahillEverton have suffered an injury blow with the news that influential midfielder Tim Cahill will miss the start of the new Premiership season.

Cahill picked up a foot injury in Tuesday’s friedly against Werder Bremen and there were initial fears that the Australian international could be out for three months, which has been denied.

Gallas open to Arsenal captaincy

Arsenal- William GallasWilliam Gallas has admitted that he would make him ‘very proud’ if he was to be named as the new captain of Arsenal.

Following Thierry Henry’s departure to Barcelona, the Gunners need a new captain for the new season and Gallas’ name has been mentioned along with Gilberto Silva and Kolo Toure.

Martins to sign new Newcastle deal

Newcastle - Obafemi MartinsObafemi Martins is ready to sign a new deal at Newcastle United.

The Nigerian international striker has revealed that he is currently in talks with the new contract said to not include any release-clauses, like his current deal

Martins has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but the 22-year-old is only focused on scoring goals for the Toon.
