Arsenal to bid £11million for Modric

Arsenal- Arsene WengerArsenal are considering an £11million bid for Croatia international midfielder Luko Modric.

The 21-year-old, who plays for Dinamo Zagreb, caught the eye of Arsene Wenger when he played against the Gunners last summer.

Shakhtar Donetsk have already have already had an offer of £10.5million rejected.

Martins pledges future to Newcastle

Newcastle - Obafemi MartinsObafemi Martins has pledged his future to Newcastle United.

The Nigerian striker has been linked with a move to Arsenal and rumours increased when it became public knowledge that the 22-year-old has a £13million get-out clause in his contract at St James Park.

“I will keep my mouth shut. I am not going anywhere, I am still a Newcastle player,” he told the Magpies’ website.

United: No Alan Smith bids

Man Utd - Alan SmithManchester United have revealed that they have not received any formal offers for Alan Smith.

Middlesbrough are reported to be closing in on the England international, but while United chief executive David Gill admitted that there has been enquiries, inlcuding one by text message, no clubs have made a bid for Smith.

Young completes Middlesbrough move

Middlesbrough - Gareth SouthgateMiddlesbrough have completed the signing of Luke Young from Charlton Athletic in a £2.5million deal.

The England international passed a medical and has signed a four-year deal at the Riverside Stadium.

Young, a former Charlton captain made over 200 appearances for the Addicks after moving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2001 for £4million.

Martin Petrov joins Manchester City

Man City - Sven Goran ErikssonBulgarian winger Martin Petrov has joined Manchester City for £4.7million.

Petrov passed a medical at the Carrington training ground and has agreed a three-year contract, subject to a work permit.

Campbell: I could leave Portsmouth

Portsmouth - Sol CampbellPortsmouth defender Sol Campbell has dropped a hint that he will not see his career out with Pompey.

The 32-year-old has twelve months left on his deal at Fratton Park and La Liga outfit Villarreal are keen on signing the former Arsenal stopper.

Campbell said: “I don’t think Portsmouth will be my last club.”

Allardyce admits Dyer could leave Newcastle

Newcastle - Kieron DyerSam Allardyce has admitted that Kieron Dyer could leave Newcastle United because of “family problems”.

Allardyce will only let the England international leave the club if the right offer is made. Dyer has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Manchester City in the last couple of weeks.
