New Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is looking to have the same impact on the Premiership as what Dimitar Berbatov had for Tottenham Hotspur last season.
Voronin played with Berbatov during their time together at Bayer Leverkusen and the Ukrainian international insists that he has not moved to Anfield just to make up the numbers in Rafa Benitez’s squad.

Manchester United’s Alan Smith is reported to be in talks with Newcastle United today over a possible £6million move.
Reports suggest that Smith has snubbed a move to Middlesbrough and would be interested in moving to St James Park despite the fact he’d have Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Shola Ameobi, Albert Luque and Andy Carroll to compete with for a place in Sam Allardyce’s side

Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchins is confident that Paul Robinson is keen to join the club.
The West Bromwich Albion left-back is desperate to play Premier League football once again and is said to have had a medical yesterday in a deal worth £1.5million.
Sunderland have also been linked with a move for the rugged defender, but it looks as if Hutchins has won the race.

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign Arsenal striker Jose Antonio Reyes for a fee of around £8.1million.
The Spanish international spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and was desperate not to return to London, where he failed to settle.
After days of discussions with Atletico, it is being reported that Reyes will sign a four-year deal.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is optimistic that Jonathan Woodgate could have a chance of being fit for the start of the Premiership season.
Southgate has played no part in Boro’s pre-season as of yet, since he is still recovering from his knee surgery.

Eidur Gudjohnsen is said to be interested in a move to West Ham United.
The former Chelsea star is said to be considering his future at Barcelona after failing to hold down a regular first-team place at the Nou Camp.
“I have heard about the interest from West Ham, but there have been no talks as yet,” Gudjohnsen Snr told skysports.com.
